What does the Real Estate Accounting Manager do?
  • Supervise analysts, associates and fund accountants.
  • Perform detailed review of quarterly investment report valuations including diversification metrics as well as realized and unrealized valuation gains and losses (“pass-through”).
  • Review support book schedules and documentation for quarterly investor reports.
  • Perform detailed review of journal entries and financial statements for complex fund vehicles including waterfall allocations.
  • Coordinate cash management with accounting managers and fund accountants.
  • Review wire transfer authorizations and/or templates.
  • Prepare or review investor capital call and distribution calculations.
  • Process investment amendments/consents with deal teams.
  • Draft and coordinate the fund amendment and extension consent process.
  • Provide ongoing training and feedback to staff and interns.

What do you need to succeed as Real Estate Accounting Manager?
  • You must be a CPA with an absolute minimum of 8 years of professional experience in private equity and real estate partnership investment accounting.
  • An in-depth understanding of complex real estate transactions, holdings and reporting.
  • Working understanding of “waterfall” allocations.
  • Advanced computer skills including Microsoft Office.
  • Strong leadership and relationship building skills.
  • Experience leading high performing teams.
