Manufacturing based financial leadership opportunity with an innovative and diversified organization!
 
Our client, a rapidly growing, international, successful public company is seeking a talented, self-driven and high-energy individual to serve as Manager, Business & Financial Controls.  Making acquisitions is a strong suit for the company. Their sales grew by 50% from 2014 to 2018 and are slated to double again by 2019.  
 
This high-profile role requires you to oversee the integrations of successful M&A transactions and associated controls. You will be a disciplined and collaborative individual with effective leadership skills who thrives in a fast-paced environment and can focus individual and team energies to deliver results.  You will have a hands-on financial background and MUST have worked in industrial companies.  We are considering candidates with at least 8 years, but no more than 15 years of experience.  We are seeking an individual interested in “climbing the ladder” who has the presence, gravitas and skill set to be effective in a highly matrixed and impact-oriented role.
 
Manager, Business Financial Controls Responsibilities: 
  • Manage all assessments of the effectiveness of controls, accuracy of financial records, and efficiency of operations.
  • Design effective control procedures and standard work instructions.
  • Analyze data for deficiencies in controls, duplication of efforts, fraud, or lack of compliance with laws, government regulations, and management policies or procedures.
  • Support Finance Director with business analysis. Provide data and support for operations excellence and top-level improvement initiatives.
  • Collaborate with Corporate Finance and Finance Director to ensure that there is adequate documentation, process flows and support for SOX/control compliance including any audit remediation actions.
  • Act as a consultant to various functional areas of the business unit with regard to financial issues.
  • Research and interpret GAAP, FASB and ETIF pronouncements ensuring the organization is in compliance with industry-related accounting practices.
  • Maintain effective relationships with business unit leadership, communicate emerging best practices, and provide internal control awareness and training for managers throughout the organization.
Qualifications: 
  • Minimum of 8 years of experience in accounting with at least four years of accounting and managerial experience in a mid to large size, publicly held, manufacturing company (or division thereof).  Some experience at a ‘Big 4’ or ‘Tier 2” public accounting firm preferred.  
  • International experience within a global firm based in Europe or the US strongly preferred
  • Excellent working knowledge of US GAAP and working in a SOX environment is required.  Understanding of lean principles and techniques preferred.
  • Persuasive leadership skills and superb technical accounting skills to coach guide and motivate the accounting team as a valued resource to the organization. Strong competencies in emotional intelligence, leadership, continuous improvement, and business acumen.
  • Experience managing multi-site financial controls and demonstrated history of increasing responsibilities in financial leadership.
  • Data driven, analytical approach to problem solving leading to systemic improvements and lasting results. Demonstrated ability to drive process improvement is an advantage.
