What does the Audit Specialist do?
  • Perform financial, compliance and operational audits of various lines of business to:
    • Determine the accuracy of information presented.
    • Ensure compliance with established policies and procedures.
    • Determine the effectiveness of internal controls, policies and procedures.
    • Meet the annual SOX/MAR and Audit Committee requirements.
    • Verify that computer applications are functioning as intended and that controls are adequate.
    • Make recommendations for control enhancements to departmental management.
    • Make recommendations to management for improvements in operational effectiveness and efficiency.
    • Prepare detailed audit reports.
    • Discuss audit recommendations with line management.
  • Collaborate with outside accountants and consultants.
  • Participate in department wide projects to improve productivity and efficiency.
What does the Audit specialist need to succeed?
  • You must have a Bachelors degree in related field combined with an insurance industry background.
  • Knowledge of accounting and control procedures as well as audit concepts and methodologies are a must.
  • Exposure to computer systems, applications, and control features are required.
